I really think if you want your hair to be as healthy as possible, you need to use an alcohol and sulfate free shampoo. I use pureology.

the conditioners are amazing yes but the shampoo i don't know they make my hair feel dry so i don't recommend it

Every company claims they do....it all depends how much you use. Put a lot of conditioner in for a while, then wash thouroughly, and yes, your hair will appear thicker and softer. Making it grow faster and tougher? Maybe.
I think so. I use it sometimes and it's really good. It's not expensive, smells good, and makes your hair nice. If you get shampoo, get the conditioner, too (or vice versa).

Herbal Essences is a really good brand for a drugstore brand. I use that same thing, along with the garnier.


So I have the same problem as you.


I find that the Garnier is good for straight hair, but it doesn't tame the fly away, and when I style it, it doesn't smell great, and it doesn't stay straight, so I have the load on the hair spray when I use it. And on top of that, I have to use a product that gets rid of the frizz.





When I use the Herbal Essences, I wanna say that it does tame the fly away hairs, but no shampoo does that. It doesn't do that but it does make your hair so much less frizzy. I don't even have to use the product that I have that gets rid of the frizz. I RECOMMEND THIS ONE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS STRAIGHT, NON-FRIZZY HAIR!

I find both of those useless, and I understand your problem completly. I use pantene, and then I put on a bit of baby oil to my hair (in the shower), I rinse it off, and it leaves my hair smooth and silky. Another good thing to do would be to get a good hair oil, or just use baby oil and massage your hair with the oil, and leave it in for an hour, before washing it out. Good Luck
Herbal Essence dangerously straight. That is the shampoo I use and I love it. It smells great and makes my hair very shiny. I have tried garnier fructis before and it make my hair feel very waxy and weighed down.

Garnier Sleek! I rely on this stuff, and it works like a miracle! It will make your hair feel so smooth and it will be stronger too which means less breakage and less frizziness in the future! It also smells incredible, which is another plus!
Garnier, not a fan of herbal essence at all, the only thing their product do is smell good, most all shampoos do that anyway.
I haven't used those specific kinds, but I like Herbal Essence products a lot better than Garnier.

I say Garnier Fructis because Pantene makes your hair super greasy/oily the next day. I've used Pantene in the past but found more success with Garnier. Not only did Garnier prevent me from having to cut my hair due to over-processing it, it saved me money by allowing me to wash my hair every other day unlike Pantene.

People who have a negative opinion about it, don't like the way it feels in their hair. Yours might react differently. I've used Garnier shampoo's, they're nice, and I have chemically treated hair. Those shampoo's haven't effected the longevity of my treatments. You may want to stay away from shampoo's like, Prell or Suave, they tend to run higher in the pH factor. Key fact: The higher the pH levels in a product, the more drying and stripping effect it has. Press will take wax off a floor in a heartbeat!! (So will Comet) Higher priced salon shampoo's (Biolage, Matrix, Nioxin, Redkin, Paul Mitchell, etc) aren't any better than drug store shampoo's, to be honest. You're paying for the name, that's it. If it works for you, it's okay to use. When it stops working, find another one.

I have personally used Garnier Fructis before and I recommend it. It made my hair really really soft. It was the perfect because my hair is naturally curly so I have to use special products to keep it soft so it won't tangle. Another thing I like about Garnier Fructis is made with natural ingredients: fruit concentrates and vitamins. The name says it all. Plus it makes your hair smell so good! Oh by the way the other day I bought a Garnier Fructis hair dye and it came with avocado oil--that's really good because as you tend to dye your hair, it becomes dry so avocado oil is perfect to restore the shine....hope you try it!!

Fructis is a really good shampoo -- it won't dry it out or make it too stingy looking. But I gotta tell you -- try Tresemme. I have been using that for the past year and my hair looks great -- it grows really quickly - which is good cuz I change my hairstyles about 8 times a year --





But if you're looking at Fructis -- it's a really good shampoo and worth every penny.

I would DEFINITELY reccomend Garnier Fructis. It works great. I would say use Garnier Fructis Sleek %26amp; Shine. That's the one I always use and it works really well.

EDIT: yes pantens pro-v is bad for your hair. it has too much protein in it and can cause your hair to be extremely greasy/dry. its alright for a short period of time, but after long periods of use, you'll notice a difference... definitely in a negative way.

Well, what made it brittle in the first place? was the hair healtht when it started to break? what damage have you done to your hair? is hair loss a history in your family?
You need a good conditioner. First wash your hair with a cheap shampoo or even your body wash to strip all the oils and buildup off your hair, then use a deep conditioning treatment, I recommend TRESemme repair hot oil treatment. Get a good conditioner, TRESemme intense moisture conditioner. Also only wash your hair every 2 days to keep from damaging it. You might also need a cut if it's been a long time. Mine was falling out all over the place when I hadn't cut it for a year. If this doesn't help go to a hair salon, they should be able to help.
To keep hair from falling out use: 2 tbls. apple cider vinegar 2-3 x day because it has 93 vitamins and minerals. Use pure coconut oil for moisturizing. Just a little goes a long way. Hair and nails will become long and strong. It is the only all natural product that has made my hair and nails grow without any breakage.

Switch to Garnier Fructis Dry and Damaged. I have the same problem, and Dry and Damaged works better for me than Long and Strong....or any other shampoo and conditioner which I've tried, actually. :P
try this shampoo its awesome! Joico KL-Pak reconstructor. It is the best shampoo and condtioner ever! Its kind of pricey, but trust me it works!! They also have this liquid reconstructor, and you spray it on after your condition, and it smells great and it works wonders! my hair used to be horrible and after like a week of this stuff my hair was 100% different. After the first time you use the liquid reconstructor, you can feel a difference. Trust me its well worth the money. You can only buy it in salons or professional beauty stores. Good luck!

The beauty industry is full of false advertizing, and nothing can repair your hair once it is damaged. The only thing to look for when shopping for shampoo is if it has sodium lauryl sulfate, which will dry your hair out and cause it to break. Sodium laureth sulfate is OK, so just remember that ';laureth'; is good, but ';lauryl'; makes your hair ';ill.'; It's very hard to find shampoo without it. Also avoid too much sun exposure. Wear a hat.





I should also add that shampoos like Pantene are full of wax, so it makes your hair seem like it is softer and smoother for a little while, but it isn't really doing anything good for your hair at all, and eventually the buildup will make your hair start to look gross. If you like the waxy shampoos, get one that doesn't have so much wax, even a really cheap one like white rain, which is one of the top rated shampoos by chemists, and use it once a week or two weeks to wash out the buildup from the waxy stuff.

Yes I have. It is a good hair product for people with thin %26amp; normal hair but if you have problems with dandruff or flakes and have a more hair than most people do it's not the best shampoo. I do currently use Garnier Fructis Shampoo. I have used it for about 2 years. My hair is about half way down my back and is thick but very fine so it is hard to keep healthy and from tangling. I tried many different cheaper shampoo/conditioners before I finally decided on Garnier. The length and strength version of it fits my hair needs exactly and it makes it smell really good. (I get comments on it quite often.) I did not want to pay the price for the Shampoo and the amount I needed for my hair so I alternate shampoos. I first used Garnier products entirely for two weeks and then I began alternating by using a cheap version of Suave shampoo and the Garnier conditioner every other time instead of entirely Garnier every time. (example: first washing would be Suave shampoo/Garnier conditioner, second would be Garnier shampoo/Garnier conditioner, third would be Suave shampoo/Garnier conditioner.... and so on.)This alternation still keeps my hair healthy. I have really enjoyed using Garnier for my hair.

garnier works ok but your head smells like fruit salad. ask your hairdresser. things like paul mitchell and sebastian cost more but you use less -- so it works out about the same.
It will work well for the frizz, though bear in mind it will weigh your hair down taking away volume. If you don't mind flat hair, go for it. I have thick hair and use it to de-frizz and flatten my hair down. If you want volume but not frizz, look into a product called BioSilk which is a serum you rub into damp hair. It works wonders.
It's not the best (I found it weighed down my hair too much) try the sunsilk line - it's my personal fave!

I have four girls and they all have different hair types. My oldest who is thirteen has very thick curly hair that tends to frizz often, i have tried everything then a friend mentioned using Dove shampoo and conditioner. It is not expensive but I have found that it makes her hair baby soft and not frizzy anymore. Let me know if it works for you like it did for my daughter.
They are both the same when it comes down to it. If you want silky smooth anti frizz hair try Redken Soft conditioner... paying more for a higher end conditioner is better for your hair in the long run, and will make it look and feel better, shampoo doesn't really matter. Any Redken, Aveda or BedHead product is better for your hair than the cheap drug store brands.
i wouldn't use either! i always use salon professional shampoos and conditioners as i think that they work far better than any shop bought variety's! and im not just saying this because im a hairdresser! i honestly believe it. A good shampoo is the most important thing as that is what does all the good stuff! the conditioner just coats the surface of the hair if you want something moreintensive then you should get a treatment such as Redken heavy cream. it is fab!!!!

i have never tried the shampoo so i couldn't tell you but there is one formula from tre-semme that works well for heat protection. I use that all the time and when I'm done straightening or curling my hair its really shiny.

No, the shampoo should still be good. Most likely you left it out so long that something else got into the shampoo that changed the smell. It will still work just as well though.

Shampoos for color treated hair, help the hair prolong the color and prevent fading. So, any shampoo for color treated hair should do just as fine. And there are products to seal in the color too.

I always try to discourage my clients from using pantene. It contains the same chemicals that are found in car wax. Basically what that does is lock down the cuticle of your hair, which should be allowing moisture into your hair shaft. I used to use Garnier shampoos until my hair cutter dude told me that Garnier shampoo and conditioners have a much higher oil level in them than most brands, which obviously makes your hair feel more oily and leaves more buildup.

Nothing will take your relaxer out. When you apply a relaxer you are chemically altering your hair. You can use any shampoo, but make sure you use a good conditioner to keep your hair healthy. Relaxers are not healthy for your hair even when they are done right, because of the chemicals. Garnier Fructis products are usually too strong and they rip out the natural oils that you need in your hair. I've used that before, too, and it just ended up drying out my hair really badly.

try tresemme, its salon shampoo, you buy it at a store tho. or a salon, seriously, it leaves your hair smelling SO good! and your hair is ALOT healthier, its the best shampoo i have EVER had, I promise you that if you try it, you will LOVE it, it comes in a black circle bottle lol email me if your interested and i can get you the name.=] carlykitteh@yahoo.com also your hair does grow faster too lol :D Thought i'd mention. neither, get apple ginseng by back to basics, it's the healthiest my hair's ever been. And there was a lot of growth with that. I also use suave coconut. between these two product my hair has grown at least 14 inches in about a year. That is unprecedented for me. runner up is herbal essence, not as healthy or long, but VERY soft. If you combine these 3 products and switch em up, you'll probably get amazing hair.
i have tried both, and herbal essences work MUCH better for me :) my hair just feels healthier and softer

Hmm, well my hair is thick and has split ends too lol and I would use Herbal Essences if it was me, Garnier doesnt work that well for my hair. Not really sure which would help hair grow though..

Hmm. I've never used Garnier, but I use Aussie Mega, and even though I blow dry and straighten my hair, it's still pretty soft and shiny. And Aussie smells really good, and the smell stays in my hair. :)


But I can't tell you anything about Garnier, sorry.


Oh, and to make your hair silkier, try combing it with a Con Air Tourmaline Ceramic comb. They work really well to keep down frizz and static and smooth out your hair.Which brand has a better shampoo and conditioner? Aussie or Garnier Fructis?
i don't own aussie or garnier but my friend used aussie on my hair and it made it SOO SMOOTH! and my other friend said that garnier is not so good. for myself i use pantene sleek %26amp; smooth and i love it. but most of the time i use nexxus moisture shampoo and it works great too :]
